3. The 2014 power unit was a clean sheet design. The 2026 power unit carries forward a simplified version of the previous unit's ICE. "I'm concerned about the RBR power unit" Translation: "I was hoping it would be a failure, now I"m worried it's a strong power unit."

4. I have no idea what will happen in 2026. I think all teams will have rocky starts with new Engine and Airo rules. And there may be politics over what teams are doing. I hear one of them has a flexible piston to change compression from 16:1 to 18:1. If small teams can not develop this tec it may be banned. There needs to be a regulation that limits how many parts a team can ship in a season. A limit on how many parts or a physical weight. Or just say updates can come at these rounds in season.

5. It is my theory the cars used in Testing could be different from what we see in Melbourne for the Aussie GP. It is a Test car for testing. And any smart team will keep innovative ideas under wraps. Or a team will try to copy it before the season starts. It is basically like Friday Practice. I used to watch it and then i realized how meaning less it is.

   The Mercedes team unity, being deliberately undermined by the current driver lineup, has absolutely on chance of winning either Championship in 2026.

10. Hmm. After so many years of addressing and overcoming the numerous engine problems / restrictions from the Reno and Honda era, RB engineers have the almost perfect foundation to invent and perfect a race winning, reliable F1 engine.
    Under Christian Horner's brilliant leadership, coupling the 'Ford's' EV energy pack to their first engine will definitely give them an edge over the opposition in 2026.

17. I really don't know why everybody all of a sudden put Mercedes as favourites.
    It's like everyone was given a script to follow.
    McLaren is a better team and will have the same engine. Also Red Bull is a better team and it seems that their engine is reliable.
    All this Mercedes thing makes no sense at all.

21. Mercedes informed the FIA during their developmental proces and no illegality was found during that time. The same happened during the development of DAS, which was legal for a year. The compliance of the FIA during development isn't binding however. Only the homologation scrutiny is and this takes place in Australia just before the first GP weekend.

23. The compression ratio testing loophole was such an obvious fumble by the FIA. The game is very simple: Merc meet the standards of the testing via Rules As Written but that of course neglects the purpose of rules: Rules As Intended. This is where the advocacy of the teams comes in; with RBR seeming to have 'switched sides' the teams now have the necessary pressure to put on the FIA…

    …Regardless, I still think Merc will get their wish – at least for the first few months and then probably a rule change regarding how the compression is tested (live sensors so the test isn't just static) comes in; like we saw with the flexi wings with McLaren.

    If so (and the media rumours are to be believed of course) then Merc may well be hard to beat. Of course, we still can't tell much from testing but with the details of how the Merc personnel are acting I think it likely means that they know they can ramp up their power unit quite significantly.

    That said, hopefully the combo of different fuels plus the super-mario effect of the active aero will help shuffle the pack up a bit because it seems juggling it's settings/modes/moments will be a key detail in terms of being vulnerable to drivers behind or not. Lets just hope that the cars aren't going to be heavily effected by dirty air or else noone will be able to get close anyway…

    …all of which is pure speculation for now but thats half the fun of F1 isn't it? Trying to discern fact from fiction in the paddock rumour mill, sandbagging in testing etc
