I worked and lived in China for nearly 16 yrs. The development of EVs has been quick. We all know that BYD EVs do not have sound safety records. I personally would not go near it. I stand by this for at least another 10 years before revising my opinion. But good luck with this brand and other Chinese brands. They all look good but …….
It is too risky to buy a car from a company that could stop supplying parts or withdraw from England at the whim of China (Xi Jinping), meaning that support and maintenance will no longer be available.
Sorry.. No Chinese for me !

I had the option of both recently and although the range was attractive on the CLA I went with the seal excellence and never looked back.
No, this is not what you would expect from Mercedes. Actually, it looks more Chinese than the BYD.
EVs all have enough range now that range itself is no longer a selling point. Unless you have a very much use case 380miles is plenty. I donโt need to do 500miles without stopping. Ever.
Personally I prefer the Mercedes 100% and the exterior of the Mercedes looks 100x better! Good video though ((:

As much as these videos are informative and fun, the main reason for following this channel was the โweeklyโ podcast. Seems thatโs been ditched with no acknowledgment on it.

The lady is a little bit overmotivated
I've driven the CLA. It was a 2.000 miles trip. This car is insanely efficient. I'm so impressed!
As a CLE owner, it's become pretty obvious that Mercedes skimp hard on the interior of their "A" level cars now. You really have to move up to a C or E level vehicle to actually feel like you're getting your money's worth. Same goes for the Chinese made engines in the hybrid CLA. Nothing about the new CLA has the Mercedes confidence and style.
Also, my god the flat dashboard with massive screens is absolutely awful. At least the old C and E class dashboards were angled in an appealing and useful way.
I took delivery of my Seal Excellence 2 weeks agoโฆ..love it! Great looking car and is super comfortable to drive. Who drives 480 miles without stopping, not me. ๐๐
3.8 M/KWH * 85 KWH = 323 miles. (not anywhere near 480)

Iโm puzzled by UK prices. In New Zealand, the Model 3 long range starts at NZD 75,200 (about GBP 33,000).
BYD Seal is objectively good looking car. Also the best looking BYD out of all its models.
Just seems like China has exposed you can get decent quality and decent price. Because the Germans are profit maximising they resort to cost cutting.
Just give us a good car and good quality without having to spec it for 10 grand!

When it comes to dealer service i am sure the Mercedes or any German cars for that matter will win hands down. It will surely make a hole your wallet.
Putting aside the merc comes poverty spec at the equivalent price with half the equipment of the BYD…
But it's selling point is it's range and charging which is all focused around motorway driving, aka long stints at a time, and the seats are absolute garbage.
