The #MazdaCX5 is all-new for 2026 and it gets BIG upgrades. But is it better than a RAV4 or CR-V?

The best-selling #MazdaCX5 has always been a strong alternative to more mundane rivals like the #ToyotaRAV4 and #HondaCRV, but has #Mazda made the new version better than its two main Japanese rivals?

  1. It is slower and has slightly worse fuel economy. Love the way it looks though! Mazda really needs to make their own EV platform that can be sold in the US. And EV is Mazda driving dynamics would be a dream.

  2. Had a 2021 Mazda CX5 signature and just upgraded to a CX90 Turbo S. I love it. Mazda is more in the Acura/Lexus type of tier now as far as materials and luxuries go.

  3. I like it!

Looks good from every angle but it needs a little more power. It needs a turbo or an after market supercharger. VT racing makes a good one for this engine. I may get it later on for my CX-30. I ordered an upgraded rear helical limited slip differential. It’s gonna handle even better!

  4. I'm from Europe and in my country if the engine is over 2.0 you get in a different tax bracket and Mazda only offered this engine for years. So imagine paying more taxes for 10 sec to 60😂 there are none of these on the road.

  5. NOPE. I have a 2018 CX5 and love it. This new one doesn’t look as good inside or out, has no physical knobs or buttons, has no turbo option and has the pano sunroof of a previous generation RAV4 that only opens a couple inches. The crossbar on that sunroof is wider than the opening, looks outdated. It’s a big NO for me. I was looking forward to buying another CX5 one day but I’ll pass on the 2026. Maybe if the hybrid is as fast as the old turbo and comes with a black headliner…maybe…but this ain’t it! 😑 What a shame, ruined a classic.

  6. Love everything about it!

The oversized, “always in your face” distracting display screen is the deal breaker.
If it was possible to replace it with an iPad mini sized screen, I’d buy two of these !

  7. This is A LOT of money for that base 2.5L. Don’t get me wrong, I love that engine and the engineering that went into it but it’s buzzy and needs to make more power. I think at the very least, it should have been tuned to take advantage of 93 octane. IMO, they nailed the exterior styling minus those wheels that look like they belong on an EV. Also, hate that screen. If I were to purchase this, I would have the dealer remove it and install a blank.

  8. That giant screen is dumb I drive the previous generation and I turn it off at night because it’s distracting can’t imagine this

  9. I’m always curious, how much bigger do they make these vehicles to the point that it’s considered a mid-sized SUV (at least by older standards). Same goes with all vehicles lol
