Wiper has become really loose – can I fix this myself?

Yesterday I was driving home and all of a sudden the wiper seemed to go a bit limp, such that the other wiper was intersecting with it.

I’ve tried tightening the nut at the base but that doesn’t seem to have done much. Any ideas?
