Worst Car Features That Ruin It In 2026 | Volkswagen ID.7 | AutoNext

Automobiles

We recently reviewed the Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer and overall it impressed us. Spacious, comfortable, efficient and clearly built for long distance driving. It feels like a proper modern estate for the electric era.

But there is one thing that genuinely annoyed me. The window switches. Instead of giving you four separate buttons, Volkswagen uses two switches with a touch sensitive button to toggle between front and rear windows. It sounds clever in theory, but in daily use it is simply frustrating. You have to look down, think about what you are pressing and it adds an unnecessary layer to something that used to be intuitive.

For a car that does so many things right, this small detail stands out more than it should. Sometimes less really isn’t more.

  1. I test drove a car the other day called the tiggo 7 from cherry. It didn't even have an on/off button. To turn it on you get in with the key and press the brake pedal. To turn it off you have to swipe down on the infotainment screen, like how you do on a phone, and select the option to turn it off…. why?
