The Kia Picanto is Kia’s smallest and most affordable car on sale, it is also the brands 2nd bestseller in the UK after the Sportage!

In 2024 the Picanto received a heavy facelift, with styling inspired by the flagship EV9 and more tech included like the standard 8” infotainment screen. Unfortunately the facelift axed the peppier 1.0L T-GDI turbocharged version of the Picanto, however a 62BHP 1.0 and a more powerful 77BHP 1.2 were offered.

For 2026 Kia has simplified the Picanto lineup, offering 3 trim levels; Pure, GT-Line & GT-Line S (as tested). Now a 1.0 naturally aspirated engine remains, producing 67BHP and 96NM of torque, perfect for town and city driving, but not great for faster speeds!

It’s great to see that a small simplistic car is still available to buy new! I also really liked the GT-Line S with all of the features you’d expect from more premium cars like: heated seats, a heated steering wheel, full LEDs, automatic climate control & even a sunroof.

Standard features across the range include; an 8” touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, rear camera and rear parking sensors.

I really like the styling of the Picanto facelift and how it fits into Kia’s revised range, personally I prefer something slightly bigger, but for a town / city driver, the Picanto is certainly an attractive choice! The 7 year warranty is great too and means residual values remain strong.

Thanks to Kia UK for making this video and many more possible.

  1. If they have lent you the Picanto for the week then I can't rely on you for an accurate review, it's going to be biased cos if you say anything negative they'll never lend to you again.

  2. The new look looks plastic and ugly, I have to be honest, the colour is awful, I prefer the older cars, not impressed by the screens, I'd rather have switches and proper clocks, I have to ask, who buys a car like this for 0-60? I currently drive a couple of small engined vehicles, a 799cc 3 cylinder diesel and a 998cc 3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol, both, more so the diesel are used on the motorway as I have to travel on the motorway to get to and from work. I noticed that you never mentioned the price, it may be their lowest price model, but I dread to think how much it costs

  3. Have had an auto as a courtesy car for the last 4 weeks and yes it’s absolutely abysmal, it’s like riding with a learner who is not very good on the clutch, it’s a shame they have put the amt gearbox in the autos as it’s a good little car with plenty of spec in the gt line, but I am glad to be getting my Kona hybrid back tomorrow 😂
