This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted subcompact, electric SUV.
The 2026 Subaru Uncharted is made in Japan. It’s a compact and sporty crossover with an athletic design, wide stance and a coupe-like profile. It shares the same platform as the Toyota C-HR and there are similar design elements but differences as well like the front headlamps. Compared to the Solterra EV, Uncharted is 7” shorter but it has a similar turning radius to the Crosstrek and offers 8.2” of ground clearance.
2026 Subaru Uncharted has a 77-kWh battery. Symmetrical AWD models have 338 horsepower and up to 438 km/272 miles of range. In the US, the battery size is a little smaller 74.7 kWh because the US uses a different battery supplier.
FWD 2026 Subaru Uncharted models have up to 496 km/308 miles of range and 221 horsepower.
In Canada, there is a 2026 Subaru Uncharted FWD short range model available with a 57.7 kWh battery, 399 km of range and 165 horsepower.
2026 Subaru Uncharted standard features include a 7” driver display, 14” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual wireless chargers, heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, manual passenger seat, ambient lighting and a power liftgate.
2026 Subaru Uncharted has an 11-kW on-board charger and is capable of speeds up to 150 kW. It is equipped with the North American charging system port. With a DC Fast charger it will go from 10-80% in about 30 minutes.
In Canada, the FWD SR model starts at $42,995, FWD LR $46,995, Sport $49,995
GT $52,995 (MSRP).
In the US Premium FWD $34,995, Sport $39,795, GT $43,795 (MSRP).

i think the Subaru looks better than the Toyota CHR And I don't need AWD. But I like round steering wheel
I love how sporty the Uncharted is
1) For the love of all gods, tell Subaru/Toyota—give us PHYSICAL controls inside!!!
NOT screens; even 1-2 seconds looking at that screen, and diving through “menus” is a massive increase in the possibility of an accident due to inattention.
2) That rear window? It BETTER get defroster AND wiper/washer FAST because in places NOT in the lower “mainland” aka metropolitan YVR or Toronto, that window’s NOT gonna get “cleared” by any wind slip effect, if you’re north of Whistler BC or Aurora ON latitudes. Good luck if you’re anywhere up in the Canadian Shield of Northern/North-Western Ontario.
Great to see some variety coming to the EV market. I’d be interested in seeing what’s under the hood of these EVs in your videos: Is it useable cargo space? Holding other components? Etc.
I've been watching your channel for years so used to seeing the Canadian scenery in the background. It was a trip pressing play and seeing my neck of the woods 😂. Hope you enjoyed your visit here!
Very good progress, but awd puts it over the 50k mark and that means no 5k government discount.
Unwanted, no EV for me😊
A 20 inch wheel on a small vehicle like this is just ridiculous, but the consumer wants them so you can't get away from them on higher trims.
Can't wait for this trend to reverse.
Cute car, but the steering wheel is still a deal killer for me. Hope they're not about to force that into every vehicle model they produce. Seems like a harbinger of things to come. And I would hate to see Subaru take a step back, after the strides they've made to evolve.
I think the C-HR looks better. The hammerhead front and light bar back combo feels more modern, it has a lower stance, a more classy color, and just overall looks less like a toy and more like something professionals would drive. It also has the better seat material, even if it doesn't have ventilated seats.
It looks so much better than the CHR!!
Interesting this model has ventilated seats but the Toyota doesn't
If they made a Hybrid I'd be totally into it
The name "Uncharted" would have been the perfect name for ……………………………… A Subaru Truck. C'mon Subaru, Ford has already shown a small truck like the Maverick sells well.
It would be fantastic if they cover the apps as well. One of the key features of electrica vehicles is the instant heat in cold climate (most of Canada). Otherwise, I love the channel
It looks good and would serve my needs if I was in the market. But $60K Cdn on the road is insane. Maybe if Subaru put $15K on the hood… 🤨
Pass, EVs are so dumb.
I was looking at the CHR but the ventilated better seats would shift me to the Subaru. Can you comment if the uncharted handles the same as the CHR? Do they have the same ground clearance? Did you happen to test the audio? (Jbl vs HK) thanks in advance
Call me old fashioned, but why new cars have to change steering wheels or door handles and buttons. The old ones work just fine 🙂
Hard disagree on the looks. This thing looks awful imo…Great review as always!
