Who Charted? // 2026 Subaru Uncharted Review

Automobiles

Subaru has eight crossovers and half of them are electric Toyotas. Today, let’s talk about their most affordable EV and what makes it a great option.

Other vehicles to consider include the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro Electric, Kia EV6 and Volvo EX30 to name a few. I’d also recommend looking into the Subaru Crosstrek, Forester or Outback too.

  1. It may be a great car, but it's not a Subaru, and Subaru owners want Subaru quirkiness. This thing doesn't have that, and I predict sales will suffer because of it. And Toyota may make a great hybrid system, but they haven't nailed full-electric yet. Not even close.

  2. Yes, why is the center council taking up so much space. It does not need to be that large. It does not need 2 charging pads that will overheat your phone. It should be cut down to one charging pad and a place to put your phone when it does not need to be charged.

  3. Somebody charted, hey hey…Eddie Murphy.
EV sales are down, Toyota can’t even sell theirs , except in Vancouver. These’ll be really cheap, after some lot rot.

  4. Personally I like this Toyota collab. Despite this vehicles name , Subaru won’t take that uncharted path to save their lives if it wasn’t for Toyota . Toyota makes cars anywhere from boring… to hella fun (Supra) to batshit crazy (GR Corolla). Subaru can’t even put out a new STI and you’re hoping for a Baja ? That’s like going from crawling straight to running . Maybe in a different universe but sure I hope so. So yeah I’m glad they paired with Toyota , maybe they’ll start making fun cars again.

As far as the whole Subaru heritage , this died for me when they discontinued the STI and built the Outback to look like a worn out shoe . Maybe Toyota will “talk some sense” into Subaru and really I’m hoping these collabs are just the beginning . We shall see

  5. I think based on the minimal delta in price between the three EVs (not including the Getaway) the trailseeker is going to eat everybodys lunch. More power, same range, more cargo area, a little bit of the wagon appeal that the new outback hasn't got. Kind of a no brainer, just my opinion but i dont think solterra and uncharted will do very well comparitively.

  6. Nice video. This is maybe the first time I've commented despite watching for a while.

It's interesting to consider the specifics of the Toyota-Subaru setup. Toyota obviously owns a fair bit of Subaru. They've partnered on these crossovers but are ending their partnership on the BRZ/86.

How much DNA can EVs really have? Stripped down, there are more similarities than differences.

As for a new Baja… terrible, terrible idea.

  7. Subaru is just late responding to government regulations. The prior administration insistence on electric vehicles and the long lead time needed for development not to mention the cost led to the Subaru/Toyota partnership. I think this ,the new Solterra and the Getaway look good and are reasonably priced. Limited range and charging speed will be a factor. If gas stays above $4.00/gallon this could be a good alternative!

  8. Great review! This car is on my shortlist, and im pleased that none of your critical observations are dealbrekers for me. The recently announced Wild Hybrid Forester issa dream come true for me, assa hybrid owner who used to have a Forester and a WRX. Im looking forward to learning which vehicle best suits me

(PS: also looking forward to commenting on your last vid about Audi. I've been meaning to visit my local dealership for a couple months now. Now i have another reason)

  9. I'm already in line to get one in Habanero Orange and couldn't care less that two automakers are combining efforts. The Uncharted fits in my garage, has amazing ground clearance for me to get out to secluded beaches on The Big Island, and more than enough range, because Big Island. Hurry up and get here.
