This is the new electric Jaguar 4dr GT car, and we’ve driven it.

Join Autocar as we spend time in a prototype of the new Jaguar, the production car based off of the controversial ‘Type 00’ concept.

Our drive is on a frozen Swedish lake as the Jaguar undergoes winter testing.

Matt Prior takes the wheel alongside Jaguar’s dynamics engineers to discover just how this new 1000bhp electric GT car handles.

  1. If you're in the comments of every video moaning about depreciation then you probably can't afford this car because people who actually buy cars like this don't really care

  2. I like the color. Finally a car with a different color. Outside it looks cool. In this color. The inside looks like a cave and very confined. Hope they add bigger windows, an engine, if they go electric the racing should be high range with the use of all features.

  3. The operative word is "the engineers!" This is what Lotus did. Designed what they thought was 'the brand.' Nothing to do with what customers want. Utter disaster . . . Engineers are good. But not at customer interaction.

  4. This will be revealed at the Festival of Speed, not late summer! Jaguar ain't gonna miss an opportunity to market it at one of the worlds biggest shows

  5. If Jag is planning to sell this car in the biggest car market in the World, CHINA, they will have to redesign the door handles otherwise it will be banned.

  6. I have seen this car without camo as I went to an invite only event last week. Car isn’t aimed at traditional market for big Jags, it is for tech types, entrepreneurs and the like. It is huge and impressive with ‘presence’. Practical it isn’t. The version I saw had gull wing doors although these won’t be on production vehicles. There won’t be any hybrid or petrol versions. Price point £100k +. How many they need to sell to return a profit, god knows. What is for certain is the image change is deliberate as the designer was there, a young bloke maybe 30 yrs old and he articulated as much. The design engineer was middle aged man with great pedigree and clearly loved Jags and really enjoyed turning concept into reality. A pity that they want to discard their clientele for the young and trendy, but it is what it is.

  7. When tata bought jlr it was already in chaos, although they turned range rover profitable, they weren't able to make jag successful, sales were so low so if this type 00 turned to be awful they can just change their product otherwise range rover is still be profitable to fill the gape

  8. This looks like a masterpiece in poor packaging! What on earth do jaguar actually put in that huge bonnet out front? Is it just air? I bet it will have a tiny boot and feel super cramped in the back as well yet it's about as long as a bus! 😂

  9. They looked through the entire Jaguar back catalogue and took things they liked, like from the XJS… oh f%#*🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

  10. I own an F type R. I love (real) Jaguar. But is this it? Is this the only model now- I don't like anything about it- from the proportions to the electric engine. I can understand them introducing this as one new model- but not when it means disregarding all the range of real jaguar cars. What on earth are they thinking? Jaguar has such an incredible identity, and anyone who's driven one knows it doesn't feel like any other car. This… well… If i wanted an electric car (which I don't) I wouldn't be considering this freezer with wheels. Gross.

  11. And to think 🤔 Jaguar is known for long range. My 2019 Jaguar XJL delivers a range of 570 miles. My cousin's Jaguar FX20D delivers a range of over 700 miles. And only takes 2.5 to 3.5 minutes to fill up!! EVs can't deliver this and you have to plug in and stay awhile, sitting around and watch everyone else come and go. Been alover the country with my XJL for 5 years and with absolutely no problems at all. Another 2019 Jaguar XJL with no more than 20K miles is being searched and located for me. When found, im going to go another 5 years. You can keep the EV….
