  1. I spent some time with an agent and learned that upping the "medical payments" per person per accident from $10k -$20k was a monthly premium increase of less than $20. Given the ever looming threat of medical debt, it definitely seems smart to me.

  2. We went from $500 deductible to $1000. In 7 months we saved $500. Put that in savings, and if we need it, there is the $500 deductible back. Then you continue to save.

If you have multiple drivers in the house, or have public transit, get rid of rental car coverage.

Bundle and get to know an agent. Yes, old-school, but our agent did optimize our combination of coverages to get the best price. A good and honest agent will often save you money rather than their employer!

  3. Having kids with good grades is a hilarious reason for a discount. Being Asian it feels almost as if that's a policy exclusively targeted at me to compensate for how much extra risk they assign me because I'm an Asian driver.

  4. When I bought my mustang 2008 they wanted $1,700 a month for liability I was male licensed for less than a year under 20 y.o. and the car was a red convertible sonI think that all played an part and I just totaled my last car before that which was over valued

  5. Nobody's talking about quality of service. It makes a huge difference if you make a claim and all goes smoothly and quick and you get paid fairly or NOT. That's been my criteria for 3 decades in two countries and I've been satisfied with my insurances, maybe not the most inexpensive but the most trustworthy.

  6. Shop around the low-priced insurers, and change every 3-4 years, because even those low-priced insurers will hike up the rate over time while being willing to give a great rate to an incoming insurance customer.

  7. got married 7 years ago. never told my insurance. only had liability. bought a new car, full coverage; undated my marital status. insurance price stayed the same

  8. The fact that companies are allowed to discriminate against men and young people but not women or blacks or old people really goes to show you who’s actually privileged in today’s society

  9. Insurance is one of the biggest rackets ever
It's required to be able to drive and penalizes good drivers for accidents even if they're not at fault
Insurance companies reap billions in profits by not paying out, taxing you for every conceivable reason (i.e., bad drivers, under or completely uninsured drivers, loyalty, and lawsuits)
I know so many people who sell insurance that try to recruit me
Better the devil you know i guess

  10. Be careful taking defensive driving to save on insurance. If you do, you may not be able to take one to reduce or avoid a ticket. The course may be good for a couple years, within which time, if you're offered the opportunity to take defensive driving to reduce fines or get some other benefit in a court after getting a citation, you may be ineligible.

Also, we always call USAA to check on vehicles we're thinking of getting to see what rates are like. The actual VINs are most accurate, but a year/make/model are pretty close. Or we can do the estimate online as well. It's especially nice when we're looking to narrow down between types of vehicles or just a few we're considering. If one is way cheaper or more expensive to insure, we can decide if we want to keep looking at them.

  11. This video really hit home for me-retirement has been such a rewarding chapter of life! My wife and I worked hard to get here, and we're incredibly thankful for where we are today. Now we're debt-free with a net worth over $3 million, and that investment income supports us every week. we're enjoying the fun stuff-traveling, golfing, and spending lots of quality time with our grandkids. If you're working toward retirement, just know it's absolutely possible with patience and a good plan!

  12. 3:40 F no. Never give them that info. I'd personally recommend to NOT have their app on your phone even when you don't allow them access to your GPS location, they're still trying to catch that info.

  13. The driving apps are ridiculious and not worth it. Every time I've had any, they give me points off for sharp turns when driving the speed limit in the mountains, the deduct points for driving at night, etc. Even if I save $5 by using it, it's not worth the stress.

  14. 4:00 "safe driving" monitors are such scams. The "aggressive start" and "reckless stops" make no sense and seem to be completely arbitrary and they only offer a good discount during the initial tracking period. Their main "benefits" are to the insurance company adding more detailed telematica that you've actively agreed to

  15. Root insurance.
App download onto phone, gps in phone gives app data on whether the driver is safe.
Root then offers inexpensive insurance to safe drivers to win these customers off of other insurers.

  16. If you don't have a car, you don't need car insurance! I have an ebike and use public transport and walking. So much cheaper, nicer and more exercise.

  17. I never ever put my real info on these insurance price quotes sites, because I did it once inserting wrong info and, my google voice number was bombarded with suspicious calls in the following day. Also, I got rid of the car around 2 years ago because I rent, so I moved at walking distance to work. I rent a car when the local shuttle is uncapable to take me to determined locations. The tough part of it is the people at work asking all the time about my car, and considering it the end of word a 10 minute daily walk.
I hate all insurance companies: car, house, rent, dental, vision, and mostly, health insurance. They are all scams. They make it super hard to file a claim and when it happens there is a lot restrictions. I just hate them.

  18. I've paid off credit cards and cut a lot of debt. Spending is way down. All the money that used to go to crap, now sits and grows in my savings….. it's like a warm hug every time I look at my bank account.v
