Michigan lawmakers are proposing new legislation in response to a series of Local 4 investigations that pulled back the curtain on how some Michigan families’ car insurance claims are getting denied and their coverage canceled because they didn’t list their kids, who don’t drive, on their policy.

  1. How does this affect someone as say an Uber driver? Will they be denied?
What if I carpool, or give a person a ride? This doesn't sound fair

  2. The fact is, they truly have absolutely no need to know any more than who will be operating the vehicle. You could have ten people domiciled with you, it makes no difference to the policy if no one but you will be driving the insured vehicle, as you are the only one needing coverage.

Insurance carriers have gotten away with so much that they believe they can slide in new levels of corruption and not be held to account. It all due to a light hand by regulators on the industry not adequately providing oversight AND costly punishments that would make the companies and their officers fear crossing the line.

  3. My friend had people on her information that didn't even live there anymore and they had thier own insurance coverage in the first place 😕

  4. The whole insurance industry is a racket, forced upon you by ignorant lawmakers who pad their pocket through the lobbyists… For instance, when is the last time you seen an automobile taken to court for an accident? So why is it the automobile that needs insured? Well to maximize the reach of insurers and their profits of course… If you wanna hold drivers accountable, well then it's the driver that should be insured, regardless of what they're driving… At that point what wheel the driver is behind becomes a moot point, and if you're worried about your vehicle insure it separately… It's set up the way it is so the opportunity to bill the same driver on multiple occasions exists… Like I said, it's all a sham constructed for profit

  5. Did you know insurance companies can see who has auto insurance in the household. I never knew that, i found out when I was renewing my insurance policy. I live in Michigan

  6. These loopholes are there due to previous lawmakers in Michigan. Car insurance is extremely high due to the lack of oversight from these issues REVIEW THEM ALL AND CLOSE THEM.
