GEICO is suing a Southfield-area woman because she did not list her 12-year-old daughter, who does not drive, on her personal injury protection form.

  1. Not all companies do this. Allstate does not, for example. They did not care about any of my kids until they became licensed, which is when it became appropriate for them to care.

  2. I think I'm going to revisit my insurance policy.

For any other drivers, based on this action alone, I think I'll list "every living person in the US". That should cover me in case my young daughter and/or her friends are in the car and we crash.

  3. Geico actually is correct in this. Unless she has a clause in her policy that expressly states they will cover relatives despite the filling out of the attestation. Not every state has an attestation, for example Florida doesn’t. She may have thought that her policy would increase if she added her daughter, but that form is going to be used against the lady as a misrepresentation of information and because of such, they are within their rights to rescind the policy

  4. I don’t understand why insurance has you list household members on your policy. Once you put them on they raise your rates even if they don’t drive your vehicle, and if you want them off you need to exclude them which is stupid, cause then if they ever take your car, even once and something happens they’re not covered.

  5. I have GEICO and when my car collided with a deer on accident they raised my premium by just over $1k. They’re a horrible company. I’m currently searching for another insurance company and for anyone who is looking into doing business with them I’d advise you to try and find another company. Save yourself the hassle. GEICO isn’t worth the time respectfully

  6. This is why i dont bother with driving, get a car and you start becoming a cashpoint for everyone
They require you to get insurance and then you hear this
Its a massive scam you entertain to drive
