  1. Finally someone said it and I've been saying it for years. Genesis/Hyundai are out of their minds with the pricing. This should be priced in the 50k-55k range for really the majority of their genesis cars. No one in their right minds will choose this (or the GV80) over a BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche etc.. and the ones that do are very rare. There just isn't any major benefits over the other brands listed. To really sell the car they need to make it a budget luxury with a lot of extra's included with a lower price range (like subaru- best bang for the buck for the tech included etc). I drove it a few times renting and the drive quality/interior isn't superior over the other luxury brands.

  2. It is a fair point regarding plastics under the hood, however it would be interesting to find out if they are using thermoplastics, as it can last a very long time, not corrode, offer lighter weight, and withstand extreme heat. If its PBI or PEEK Ill take that any day over traditional materials.

  3. One of the problems with Genesis (and many Hyundai/Kia products, too) is that their lighting approach has zero consideration for maintenance or repair. If an LED bulb goes out, get your soldering kit and a donor junkyard assembly out, or you're buying a brand new one. This may be $1.5-2.0k (ask me how I know). Also, if that pretty lens cover gets a small crack, it is the entire lens going back and integrating with the housing. It would be very hard to repair any small damage with a new lens cover with the design they have used. I wish I were joking, but sooner rather than later, we will have mechanically totaled vehicles when a light burns out. I hope this isn't across the industry, but I at least have experienced it with late model Genesis and Kia vehicles.

  4. One of the best reviews I have heard on the Genesis GV line. Really wish I had seen it before buying my $70K GV70 Sport Advanced. I really love driving this vehicle, but your final thoughts about cost/value vs the competition has been haunting me since buying mine in December. I had the itch, just went out looking for a retirement present for myself. If the reliability is there I will be happy.

  5. I like your reviews, nice. I was driving GV70 2.5 liters and Porsche Macan 4 cylinders ……GV70 is more comfortable and better software, also larger in interior. Macan even with air suspension is feeling more the potholes, it is driving like a smaller car than GV70, quite minimalist, but it seems more robust. Thus GV70 even similar size with Macan is very different. The software oriented people who love comfort probably would appreciate more GV70. Those looking at brand name and robustness probably go to Macan.
