Brawny V8 Power! | 2026 Land Rover Defender 110 | Detailed Review & Full Tour

Automobiles

The #LandRover brand owes much of its existence in the USA thanks to the return of the iconic #LandRoverDefender nearly 6 years ago. For 2026, the #Defender gets its first refresh since the nameplate return in 2020 and you’ll have to squint hard to see the changes. The #Defender110 remains the right sized version of the lineup and it gets slight style changes on the outside, a larger touch screen on the inside with additional center console storage, and a new high performance #DefenderOcta this year. It also remains one of the few vehicles in its class that offers not one, but two different V8 engine options.

  1. This is an absolutely gorgeous vehicle. It looks expensive and exclusive from every angle, inside and out. I'd hate to spend $130K on a vehicle destined to become a boat anchor (if I had that much to allocate for a vehicle), but damn it sure is enticing. This looks every bit as good as the MB G-Wagon.

  2. I wasn’t aware mid level Defenders were in the $110k range. Hadn’t looked since they were first introduced. I swear they were 70s then. Inflation and tariffs I guess.

  3. This land rover defender 110 V8 is fuel efficient than my small type a school bus is bad on gas is get 8.6 miles per gallon on gasoline from my work. You want suv with better fuel mileage get a suv with V6 or V8 Trust me on this. I used to drive 2007 Cadillac Escalade ext awd or 2001 nissan xterra xe 4×4 Both get same gas mileage or fuel range is not same. You want better fuel range and get full size suv with large fuel tank. I'm a one drove those trucks. I know what what is like with feel mileage and fuel range. I know. I can't downsize I can't go 2wd suv is less safe in snow storms.

  4. More reviewers need to understand what is truly unique about this vehicle – it is a unibody truck with great on-road handling and manners, but with traction control systems and geometry that best a Jeep Wrangler or 4Runner. There is really nothing else like it in the market, and it is a fantastic value proposition. You get:

-better towing and payload capacity than some midsize trucks
-better off road performance than 4Runner, Land Cruiser or GX
-better on road performance than any body on frame vehicle
    -more luxurious than GX

No, it's not wrong. It opens to the right side. Which is the correct side. It is the steering wheel which is in the wrong side.
    😁😁😁😻😅

  6. This is an amazing model and trim level. At 105k to 115k this 8 cylinder trim is also a decent value. It is FAR more comfortable and practical than a G Wagon. Interior space, ride quality BLOW a G Wagon away. And 60k less expensive. Only draw back is no roof rails on this trim. And gas mileage for a V8 is decent. Average 18.5mpg…. Knocking build quality on Land Rover is dated…. These Defenders have fewer issues than the newly released Toyota and Lexus SUV’s…

  7. I remember when these first came out and everyone was rushing to buy one. The first 5 of them that I saw were on the side of the highway broken down 😂

  8. Absolute dream car. Just a heads up because the 2026 nomenclature is a quite confusing. On LR's website, this being an X-Dynamic SE, it's available in the i6 and the V8 — however the V8 in this trim is slightly detuned making 493 hp not 518. The "Defender V8" is a higher trim level, it starts at $118k which has the P525 518 hp version. If this was the "defender v8" trim it would likely be a couple tenths quicker to 60.

    So technically 3 V8s:
    493 hp P500 supercharged V8 in "X Dynamic SE"
    518 hp P525 supercharged V8 in "Defender V8"
626 hp twin turbocharged BMW V8 in "Octa"

  9. Hate the wheels, Hate the swinging rear door, Hate the spare tire attached look, Hate the V8 motor, it's old & outdated, I'd choose BMW'S 6.2 Twin Turbo Instead…LOVE The Color!

  10. I LOVED my Defender! I’m considering buying another one but I’m currently enjoying my Range Rover. Love the simplicity of the Defender!!
