The battle for the best 3-row SUV has entered a high-voltage new chapter. For years, the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade have traded blows at the top of the Edmunds rankings, but the stakes are higher now with the introduction of the 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid to join the ranks of the all-new 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid. We took both of these family favorites through the full Edmunds testing gauntlet to see which one delivers the best blend of efficiency, space and value.
The 2027 Kia Telluride Hybrid continues to impress with its rugged styling and upscale interior. On the road, the hybrid powertrain provides smooth transitions and a noticeable bump in the Kia Telluride Hybrid mpg compared to the old V6. It remains a benchmark for ride quality and passenger comfort, offering a spacious cabin that makes it a top contender for the best hybrid SUV on the market. However, it faces stiff competition from its corporate sibling.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid counters with a bold new design and a tech-heavy approach. The Hyundai Palisade Hybrid price remains competitive, and its interior feels a step above with premium materials and clever storage solutions. In our testing, the Hyundai Palisade Hybrid mpg proved that you don’t have to sacrifice power for efficiency in a large family SUV. While the Telluride leans toward adventure, the Palisade feels like a luxury cruiser.
In the end, choosing between these two is splitting hairs. The Kia Telluride remains the enthusiast’s choice for its driving dynamics, but the Hyundai’s interior refinements are hard to beat. After our exhaustive evaluation, we’ve named a winner based on real-world performance and overall utility.

  1. There are plenty of reasons to like both the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade, but the new hybrid powertrain they share takes them to another level. It's still splitting hairs to pick between this duo, but which one do you prefer? The futuristic and rugged Telluride or the classy and luxurious Palisade? Let us know in the comments below!

***Since we filmed this video, Hyundai has issued a stop-sale and recall for the 2026 Palisade Limited and Calligraphy trims. If you own one of these vehicles, please contact your dealer. The safety concern relates to vehicles fitted with second- and third-row power seats. While our example here was a recalled trim level, other Palisade trims are unaffected by the current recall.

  2. something just off on the front design of the palisade. the projectors are too in, it looks like it's cross eyed. hopefully a facelift can fix it.
the telluride front design is just ugly. needs a complete overhaul

  3. If I had not needed a vehicle immediately the decision would have been harder. Thanks to the Stop Sale Recall Kia had to be my selection. I agree with the reviewer on all aspects. The Kia is quieter and a better ride. I do like the dual wireless charging in the Kia, but like the styling in the Hynudai. The power third row is also a big plus in the Hyundai. One item that did not make the review, which swung it more favorably in the Kia direction was the inclusion of a full size spare tire in the Kia. I've had a blow out, and while Hyundai offers 24/7 nationwide roadside assistance, it could still take hours to get back on the road.

  4. This is the video Toyota, Honda, Ford, Lexus TX, VW Atlas, Chevy whatever, Dodge whatever fan boys didnt want to see. Professional car reviewers across the industry pretty much giving these cars perfect scores and beating the competition. Especially the Honda and Toyota folks. They have that arthur meme with the fist going on when they consistently here these 2 are superior than the pilot and grand highlander. But they continue to scour the internet hoping and waiting for any recall or defect so they can blow it up on social saying i told you so lol

  5. So you reviewed the car and didn't find any issue???
People like Edmunds must've tested the safety on Palisade.

GOOD JOB!!! Now I know not to trust Edmunds.

  6. These reviews are great. And love the self deprecating athletic joke 😄 Only thing that needs fixing in these cars is allowing more bench options, no bench with the 3d view trim is a tragedy. Make a more traditional shifter, more bench options, and less hvac in screens, and it'd be a solid 10/10!

  7. STOP BUYING/PROMOTING these garbage gimmicky vehicles. A 2 year old child just died because Hyundai/Kia thought power folding third rows were COOL. Horrible idea. Same to all the other companies that offer this. Horribly unnecessary.

  8. About the 2026 Palisade recall, I believe that the recall may extend to the Hyundai group’s other vehicles, like the new Telluride, Kia EV9, and Hyundai IONIQ 9, as well as the Genesis GV80. Who knows how much safety insights the Hyundai group has missed.
