Welcome back guys! Here’s my review of the 2026 Mazda CX-5 Premium Plus in Soul Red Crystal Metallic. This competes against the 2026 Toyota RAV4, 2026 Mazda CX-50, 2026 Honda CR-V, 2026 Honda CR-V, 2026 Nissan Rogue, 2026 Hyundai Tuscon as well as soon the 2026 Subaru Forester to name a few!

I know laptop in the middle of the dashboard is much cheaper than real quality physical controls. Common Mazda.
Can you imagine living in Canada in winter time . Temperature -40C your laptop screen freezes and you can't increase heating temperature? Dumb idea lack of physical bottoms.
I'm so glad I purchased new 2025 cx-5 . The downgrade 2026 model has everything I don't need in my car. Bigger size, lack of physical bottoms ,very spartan looking interior. ZOOM…..ZOOM…..❤❤
Still has the same odd shape.
Owner of a 22 Select here, and I have to say the tablet is a deal breaker for me. Having all of the controls in one place is a big fail. The glare from the screen and all the fingerprints it will collect would drive me nuts. Too bad because the increased space and panoramic roof would be welcome.
Hard no on this one, unless Mazda reinstates the turbo and the button controls. 10 sec 0-60 is slower than molasses on a cold day.
personally I would like a more powerful engine but I think the cx5 is a fantastic car for families and people 50+
Voice activated all controls. How hard is that? Cost cutting complaints drive me crazy too. Stretched almost 5inches ,wider and taller.Think this was free?
Why no bring the cx 60.. instead, they gave us 2 cx 90.. one without the 3rd road. Not sure who is running Mazda. Bringing the company down. Already have the cx 60 in Australia.
No insulated front door glass?
Great review , the new mazda looks premium inside, the main issue is the lack of ac controls.
0-60mph in 10 seconds is acceptable, but one may have to factor in additional weight like having your family in the car.
If your family is in the car the acceleration may be slower , like around 12 seconds to 60mph.
Mazda may want to consider releasing the 2.5 turbo version much sooner than anticipated, and they also want to consider making the ac controls on the infotainment screen much bigger
I’m Ecuadorian, and I heard you prefer the Tucson?
I feel like Mazda missed a trick here. Moving all the critical functions to the screen is great for "future-proofing," but losing those physical buttons for sports/off-road modes would get old quick. The 2025 CX-5 signature with physical controls is looking like the smarter buy now 👍
As a Mazda fanboy, I am very disappointed that Mazda got rid of all the buttons in the CX-5. That was a big reason why Mazda trumped the other brands was because of physical buttons. Hopefully they will bring that back
Some of the worst front seats I've ever seen in my entire life.
1500 pound tow rating? That's terrible
this might be perfect turtle on wheels🤣😂..only positive is made in Japan…more plastic than ever on interior..driving assist still sucks when compared to competition..no acoustic glass on higher trims/more road noise..poor mpg..Mazda really screwed up by not bringing a hybrid in 2026
Mazda: “We aim to be a premium alternative to the well-established German brands.”
Also Mazda: “HARD PLASTIC!!! PUT IT EVERYWHERE!!!! ALSO MAKE IT SLOWER THAN EVER!!!!!!”
Now that people can't play with their phones they are free to distract themselves on the massive touchscreen. No worries, it has airbags.
It's a slug.
I don’t like leather wrapped steering wheels because they age poorly. I also don’t like how the front cupholders block the vents.
I leased a 2018 GT, loved it.. Once the lease was up, I bought 2021 Reserve and we also bought 2022 Carbon..Still have both and still love them. I was thinking about getting the 2026 but the lack of turbo option and the lack of physical buttons killed it.
glad I decided on the 2025 cx5 signature with turbo. I would hate that glossy reflective display and having to menu-dive to activate sport or off-road mode would be a constant pain.
It has voice control!! Use it! Lol
Good looking but lot of cut costing compare to the 2025.
I test drove a 2025 and the back seat was cramped, and I didn’t like the weird tech and the transmission seemed lazy. This one is a great size, but a few physical buttons and more power would help out a lot.
I like technology. I do not like gimmicks.
Man, please 🖐🏼🤬
Mazda has said nothing about a TURBO coming OUT
For the 2026 Mazda CX-5, the central console screen (now a much larger 12.9-inch or 15.6-inch touchscreen) is controlled differently than previous models, as Mazda has moved many functions directly onto the display.
1. Using the Touchscreen Interface
Because the 2026 model uses a smartphone-like interface with Google built-in, you can adjust brightness directly on the screen:
Swipe Down: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick Settings or "Status Bar" menu. You should see a brightness slider immediately available there.
Settings Menu: Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) on the main app grid or navigation bar.
Select Display.
Adjust the Brightness slider. You can also toggle Dark Mode or Light Mode here.
2. Automatic Dimming & "Daytime" Mode
The screen automatically dims when you turn on your headlights. If it’s too dark during the day because your lights are on:
The Dash Knob: As mentioned before, rotating the physical illumination stalk on the instrument cluster to the far right until it clicks/beeps will override the auto-dimming and lock the central console screen into its brightest "Daytime" setting.
Light Sensor: Ensure nothing is covering the light sensor on top of the dashboard (near the windshield), as this can trick the car into thinking it's nighttime.
3. Voice Control (Google Assistant)
Since the 2026 CX-5 features Google built-in, the easiest way to adjust it while driving is by voice:
Press the voice command button on the steering wheel or say, "Hey Google, increase the screen brightness."
4. Climate Control "Hot Keys"
On the 2026 model, the climate controls are now permanently pinned to the bottom of the touchscreen. While these are for temperature, tapping the Settings (gear) icon in that bottom bar often provides a shortcut to vehicle-wide display settings, including brightness.
They ruined it. Such a shame.
That NA 2.5L engine is great in the smaller, sleeker Mazda3 sedan/hatch, which is about 750 pounds lighter, but using it in larger, heavier vehicles like the CX-5 & CX-50 is pretty underwhelming.
I could see Mazda bringing physical buttons back in the mid‑cycle refresh. 😀
There is NOT going to have a TURBO!!!! Not now or ever….
I am sorry if I missed it does this model have a cylinder deactivation? So on a 4 cylinder is a No for me.
