Mazda has luxury interiors for normal prices.
I like everything about the new model besides these things. The Mazda logo is missing on the rear and wheel; they look sterile and cheap without a true badge. That huge ugly screen just feels like a departure from their safety psychology oriented design. This model feels like it’s just a Toyota with Mazda slapped on the outside.
The volkswagen touch volume arrangement is 10x better than what mazda came up with. Also thats the tiniest panoramic roof ive ever seen.
They removed the ambient lights from launch version?
I think you are incorrect on the trim needed for the head up display. I believe that comes on all Touring trim and higher

@10:19 The problem is NOT the display. The MAJOR problem is that Mazda took out all physical buttons and removed the wheel knob. If they had physical buttons and the wheel knob in addition to the new display, then no one would be complaining. Mazda screwed themselves over on this boneheaded decision. I predict the CX-5 will have catastrophic sales decline due to this issue ALONE. It's a major mistake that hopefully Mazda corrects in the 2027 model.
As a 2023 CX-5 owner, the interior material changes they've made are not cutting it for me. Pop open a outgoing CX-5 and you'll find entire upper door cards made of soft touch plastics both front and rear, an entirely soft touch dash and more. Step up from a S or Select into a Preferred or above and those door cards and dash would be after stitched with genuine stitching. Get into a Carbon or above and you'll also see padded and stitched center console surrounds.
The backseat center armrest had storage, both this storage and the glovebox up front were lined with felt to dampen rattles.
While the new Android Automotive system looks cool, the typeface used on it is "generic" which feels cheap. Even worse the generic typeface is also used on the gauge cluster and clashes with the typical Mazda typeface used on various parts of the car. Criticize the old system for sure, but it was consistently themed.
I get that costs have to be cut but I'd trade a smaller touchscreen for class leading interior materials.
Oh well i guess ill wait for the next gen Seltos. At least it will have knobs and buttons. Thats just me saying this…..

I think the 2026 Mazda CX‑5 looks more luxurious and streamlined than its competitors. I like that Mazda gave it a more masculine exterior without making it rugged. I agree that physical climate and volume controls are more practical, but only one of those functions actually moved to the screen, the climate controls. The volume can still be adjusted through the screen or with the steering‑wheel buttons. I don’t understand the complaints about the volume controls when button access still exists; the buttons are simply in a different, very common location.
Having the climate controls only on the screen wasn’t a great choice, but Google Assistant helps, …which raises the question: do most drivers really adjust the temperature that frequently during one trip.
I also agree that the Mazda logo would have looked better on the steering wheel, and I share the concerns about the black exterior trim. I wish the rims weren’t black and that Mazda had kept the classic contrasting wheels as standard, offering black as an option instead. The turbo engine likely didn’t sell well because it’s expensive to run as a daily driver. It’s faster, but most people commuting or running errands don’t need or want the added fuel cost.
Overall, I think the 2026 Mazda CX‑5 looks better than the competition, offers strong value, has a few misses, but still presents a cleaner design than others in its class.

Great review. I love the "silly" command and control knob in my 2017. It keeps me so occupied with Sirius XM Satellite and all of the 300 channels.
Sofyan, what makes you think people didn't like the old rotary knob?? It was actually one of the reasons I bought my Mazda. Now, Mazda is just like every other brand. I will look elsewhere when it's time to upgrade
honestly if mazda is going to make the hybrid exactly the same as the toyota but with the 2.5 liter mazda engine they shouldn't bother. They should continue to use Toyota's tried and tested hybrid
watching this makes me appreciate my 2019 Reserve turbo so much more.

No one has said it but, ANGLES. 11:46, it appears the eye system has obstruction of the gauge cluster. and 9:30ish, the vents have a lip that will prevent airflow to your face and above…Also…does the vent to the left of the infotainment above the ignition button work or is that fake? Another nitpick is you can't adjust the vent pressure anymore, it's either push down or up instead of scrolling. So a passenger that wants some air but not as much as the driver has no choice. And this costs more than last year?
Love 99.99% of this new edition! Anyone know if it’s possible to replace the extremely distracting display screen to one that is about the size of a mini iPad?

More reliable than a Vw Tiguan, but missing the Zoom Zoom! Miss a turbo and big rims and mazda chimes when turn on! And 40k without turbo it's to much!

Got it. So I definitely either want a new 2025 CX-5 or a 2025/2026 CX-50 because I hate having to look away from the road to adjust the A/C or turn on heated seats. That dial knob for the infotainment and actual buttons for temperature control are actually a selling point for me.
It looks good and I like the updates. But that 6-speed, although smooth and reliable, is getting very outdated. It needs at least an 8-speed. They're making a RWD 8-speed for the CX-90, so they just need to develop a FWD 8-speed. I know Toyota has taken their basic 4-speed autos in the past and added 5 to 8 gears into them over the years. Like for example an Aisin U241E 4-speed and U250E 5-speed are the same transmissions when you look at them, but the 50 has the extra 5th gear added. Mazda could do this with their 6-speed Skyactiv transmission. Just add two more gears inside of it.
P.s. The EPA is getting rid of the requirement for start/stop and I can't wait 😆

I got the 2022 CX-5. I like the physical buttons.
I’m sure people will love it but I’m not one of them. I will be going with a 2025. One of the most problematic areas in vehicles these days is the infotainment system so putting everything in there is such a bad design. Also not crazy about the screen size race. I’m not against large screens if the vehicle is a larger size. This and the Tiguan have too big a screen for the vehicle size imho. For me the biggest reason for going with the previous gen is the option to get a turbo. Yes there is a hybrid coming possibly on 27 but no specs on it currently. Personally I wish they would have either offered the turbo until the hybrid was ready or delayed this gen another year until the hybrid was ready to go. For me Mazda has lost what it was known for and what made it stand out. Having actual buttons and more importantly Zoom Zoom. It’s unfortunate. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this gen will not account for half of Mazda’s sales any longer.

The knob and buttons in previous gen right where your hand rests was perfect once you get used to it. I prefer it to touchscreen for sure.

The thing about Mazda is that they catch on trends so late that by the time they come up, nobody wants it or worse, dislikes it.
Sadly the new 2026 CX-5 is making a compelling case to go get a 2025 before they are all gone. Audi did the same for the A4/A5 and I did go grab the best last year model available of the A4 and I am delighted about it. Best move ever. We need to replace our other vehicle and the 2025 Mazda just climbed on top of the list, thanks to all the crappy new model redesigns. I was waiting for a new CX-5 transmission and a well deserved refresh but screw that now. The auto industry is really in the sh** right now.
