If fuel economy is a big factor for you, wait for the hybrid. My wife got a new CX-50 Hybrid last fall, and it is averaging 34-36 mpg.
Gonna wait for the hybrid
If I want to get all touch screen, I might as well get an EV. I like gas cars because they have physical buttons.
This review is not going to age well. He really misread the room on what Mazda owners look for and value in their cars.
Canโt believe they using hard plastic in the door panels. Downgrade. Even worse still using the 6 speed automatic no upgrade to the shifting will make it ok to stay so outdated. I had a 2021 Carbon CX5 AWD Turbo and it was slow as a turtle, all because of that transmission.
I wonder if they improved the paint. Found the paint on my 2018 is too soft and easily chips. Other than that it's been a pretty solid performer and has one of the nicest interiors in it's class (GT model). As for them dropping the turbo, I'm guessing they suffered too many failures.
Mazda fought the good fight with physical controls for a long time and they paid the price. Consumers complained constantly about not having the giant iPad. They will likely lose their loyalists (myself included) but they will gain a much larger market.
Mazda said they were no longer going premium , instead targeting the economy market, and it shows. What a disappointment for the r
Top trim. This is a $34k vehicle max. Base should be be $23k. Tires and brakes too small. Weak engine. Cheap hard scratchy interior materials. When the Mitsubishi Mirage and Hyundai Accent have nicer interior plastics, at $17k, then Mazda has failed. Other than more room and hopefully, a more stable wireless infotainment system, the previous CX5 is Luxury.l class. The 2026 CX5 is visually nice, but actually poverty stricken. Lower the price so poor Eastern European farmers can afford 1. ๐ฎ๐ข๐ข๐ข๐ข๐ข
Besides the lack of power I think Mazda did great job๐ ๐. I'll definitely think about switching my CX5 when the time come ๐ฏ. Thank you for your amazing review ๐
Very nice vehicle! I ended up purchasing the '26 outback, but this was a very close second for my lifestyle.
No climate buttons, no way!
39k for no turbo….
This car is one giant zonk. No passes for Mazda on this. Too little, Too Late and driving in the complete wrong direction.
Distracted driving is going to increase with all these screen controls for everything. Need the physical things to make it quick and safer
Nice overview, Joe. I think it looks great and the increased interior space is awesome and needed. Now I got two zonks, no turbo and no buttons! I get it, you can get used to anything, but I've got a 25 CX-5 Turbo Premium and it has buttons and great power. Like most Mazda drivers, I like buttons! All the other manufacturers who went "no buttons" are putting them back! This decision might cost them, but if the hybrid turns out well and it drives great, I may still give it a try. Time will tell!
It's really interesting reading the comments under pretty much ALL of the videos regarding the new CX 5. It's almost exclusively about the touchscreen, no nobs and no rotary dial
What was Mazda thinking? Touch screen is a travesty, front end re-design is gawd awful and interior materials are also cheap. Hate the black wheels too. Will have to keep my 2022 forever now.
Redesignedโฆ same old cx5 no wow factor
I don't like jelly beans, but Mazda did quite well on the exterior. No fog lamps? I can get over that. I love the aggressive look in the front !
Nothing to make me pick this over a Toyota, Great job Mazda.
16:48 My opinion – I hate that everything is in the screen. Physical buttons for volume, fan speed, heated/cooled seats/steering wheel, drive modes, driver settings, and other frequently used buttons are much better than having to navigate through a stupid screen. Reduces driver distraction that way.
I will keep my 2025 CX-5 S Premium Plus. A great vehicle.
I have a 21' CE CX5 since new and it's been a great car. The new 26' is nice, but can't see a reason to get a new one.
Same motor, same performance I dont like the screen. It's too big and I like the knobs. Touch screen gets fingerprints everywhere and takes your eyes off the road
The bigger sunroof is nice, but dont like the block letters that say
MAZDA. I prefer the seagull Mazda
emblem.
I think I will just stay with my 21'.
Surprised they're ditching the emblem too. It looks okay on the back, but kinda weird on the steering wheel.
One of the reasons I like Mazda is because I like their design philosophy. I really don't like touchscreens in cars. It requires more attention. If you hit a bump while selecting something, you can hit the wrong thing. It sucks. Bring back the knob.
Love it !!! Going to keep my 2017 and get one of these so they can play together ๐. The only thing I don't like is the dealers, the sales people some how become bigger douche bags. Great cars, wish I didn't have to deal.with the sales and finance guys.
