1. You may have honestly saved me from an impulse purchase. I’ll stick with the 2020 TRD pro 4runner I already have. I was mesmerized for a few days

2. I own a '15 TRD Pro 4Runner I bought brand new. First year of the TRD Pro. At the time I bought it I owned the '11 Limited version which I was very happy with but I got sucked in by the marketing and traded it. After a pretty bad dealership experience, initially I had buyers remorse. I mean — the TRD Pro looks very cool, rugged, etc, but there are things about it different than the Limited, manual transfer case, (not full-time AWD/4WD), fake leather seats, more hard plastic bits, etc. But at it's core still a 4Runner, the very reliable V6 so grew to love it. Imma 90%er, never off-road so I do feel kinda dumb driving it around sometimes but,…whatever. I just turned 80k on it and have no plans to "upgrade" to the new one. The new ones do look great but I would honestly not make this purchase again. The price is absurd (I paid 46k for my TRD Pro back in '15 and I thought that was expensive then) and as you said, it is a "monstrosity" Real off-road people probably laugh at the people that would buy one. I would go with a used Land Cruiser, GX550, etc. Great review as always — thanks.

6. You give the best. We love your breakdowns. One question. Those bumpers have to be garbage right? How funky are they? What would 500lbs of steel do to the ride? Not that I would ever own one. I do drive 98 4runner SR5 myself though in Montana, lifted for where I live. 75yrs young.

7. Japanese quality and workmanship are unrivaled, especially Americans. It’s not even close. I would never buy a car that is not fully assembled in Japan.

8. I would have liked to see a heat shield on that rear exhaust pipe to help protect the rubber to the spare tire, but ok.

9. After this video All 5th gen 4runners will go up in value. Im so glad I got my 5th gen Pro. I pull up next to new ones and the owners know mine is better

10. There are so many people driving $70k, $80k, $90k, $100k, and $120k vehicles on the road these days. I did not know there are so many well off people who can afford not just 1, but 2 or even 3 of these vehicles at the same time. It is mind boggling.

13. The TRD Pro 4Runner certainly looks the business nut I'm not paying $73K for one. In fact, I'm not buying any new car that spies on me and I'm certainly not buying one with a government mandated kill switch when they get that working in a few years. I'm also not a fan of turbos. Too complicated and not very reliable. I also cringed at the salt underneath. Get an under body car wash to save that frame, and put some Surface Shield on it.

14. I liked driving a Kia Sorrento turbocharged-hyrdid-8 spd transmission as a rental, but thought id never buy one- just too many things to go wrong….and then Toyota copies it into the 4runner. Yikes!

17. Even if this vehicle was the same price as a non hybrid there’s zero benefit to buying it.

18. Will never ever even consider Toyota, simply because of their price gouging dealerships. I'm done with anything Toyota, not a single penny from me for the rest of my life. Sure it doesn't matter for them, but it matters for me knowing not supporting such crooks in any way.
