2026 Toyota C-HR XSE First Drive | Stand Out Looks Meets Unexpected Speed

Automobiles

The original #ToyotaCHR started life out as an entry-level #Scion designed to be cheap, small, and quirky for younger buyers. When #Toyota finally brought the #CHR to market, the Scion brand died but the #CoupeHighRider lived on as Toyota’s entry-level sub-compact SUV slotting below the RAV4 in the lineup. For 2026, the C-HR returns as a fully electric sporty SUV with sports car like acceleration and nearly 300 miles of range, all for an attractive $37,000 base price. Its not the same slow and cheap feeling model you remembered from 2017.

  1. it’s a great video of course, but same complaint as usual, nobody is interested in the 0– 100% charge time, it’s a silly statistic that only turns people off of EVs. Nobody will ever do that charge to their car, but new EV buyers freak out when they hear the number. It’s totally meaningless brother.

  2. You missed commenting on a very important feature for an EV. That is route planning that includes routing to charging stops. I wouldn't buy it unless that feature was available on the native navigation app.

  3. Man i wish the same team that designs the new body would desing the inside dash. Car looks really cool on the outside but im not bying that hidious interior.

  4. Been shopping for the BZ but it’s been out of my budget. I am going to look into this when my dealer has it available.

  5. Can we please stop with the fast-back designs? Traditional wagon/hatch mostly vertical rear glass with a window wiper is the best for both internal space, visibility, and practicality. Stop butchering a good design and making it worse!

  6. 43 thousand for this? Range, 273 miles….? No thank you, get a Tesla, better design and features……this shouldn't start higher than 35, but Toyota has brilliantly bumped up all the prices of their cars since Covid….we'll see, but no thank you for me on this one.

  7. Such a huge price for such a small range on a single charge? Cheaply assembled and made of cheap plastic. Toyota has completely lost its mind. Idiots.

  8. I can't understand Toyota; they manufacture products to compete with each other. This C-HR is almost a RAV4, and on top of that, there's the Toyota Corolla Cross. They killed the Avalon and made the Crown, which you hardly ever see on the streets. They launched the BZ-4, and I've only seen a few of them to this day. They restyled the Venza and stopped producing it a few months later. Let's see what they'll do with the Camry.

  9. I don’t see how this is a better vehicle
It alienates a good portion of buyers not wanting to live with or unable to charge electric
The last thing we need is more expensive cars
No one drives full throttle every day all the time

  10. I will need to replace my 24 EV six in October when the lease is up. This looks like a good candidate to replace it. Now, if Toyota will have any good lease deals on it. Which they usually do not.

  11. It will also be nice to find out how the winter cold affects the battery range in the new chr, woodland, bz awd trims.
