John Mahoney reviews the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric to see if this battery-powered large SUV maintains its internal-combustion sibling’s reputation for performance. This next-generation model will arrive in Australia across three distinct grades including the entry-level Electric, the mid-tier S, and the flagship Turbo. Built on the Premium Platform Electric architecture, the range features 800-volt technology for rapid charging and a 113kWh battery pack.
The review examines the fresh exterior design and an new interior featuring a digital instrument cluster and passenger touchscreen. John evaluates the 3500kg braked towing capacity and cabin practicality for families. Driving impressions focus on the new active suspension system and rear-axle steering that aim to deliver sports car agility in a heavy luxury package.
Australian buyers can compare the value against rivals like the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV. Pricing starts from $167,800 plus on-road costs with local deliveries expected from late 2026. This comprehensive look covers standard features, performance specs, and how it stacks up in the premium electric market.

Profit is down by 98% due to these silly prices.
Just get a chinese car for half the price.
With some options this price is way over $300k AUD. Was playing around with the Cayenne S EV with some choice options and it’s $270k plus. Having owned a Macan turbo and Cayenne S (both ICE) in the past. Hmmmm no thanks
No one wants to buy a gas been car
Turn that cringe engine fart noise off. Nobody wants to hear that pollution.
Ok. Put me down for two of them.
The fake engine noise sounds like its from a Sega Megadrive.
Turbo? Why?
The car looks great—just a shame it’s only available as an EV. It would be even better to see it offered with a combustion engine or a PHEV option as well.
Interesting how Porsche is losing money this year, I wonder why
