  1. Thanks for an entertaining video on the European spec Mazda6e. As you clearly stated in your review this car is not the final UK version, nor did you know pricing at the time, so you were flying blind on a couple of major points. Your opinion may change once you get to drive the final UK 6e. Already the UK version is making changes, they've looked at Mazda Australia who will only offer our version with a 78 kwh LFP battery that they say will give a 500+ km range while retaining the 165 kwh faster DC charging that can recharge 30% to 80% in just 15 minutes. This will do away with the anomaly of the 68.8 kwh LFP & 80 kwh NMC batteries of Europe, giving us a better option. Thus, the car you drove may be very different from what will be launched. This means that the UK 6e may not disappoint you as much as this 'preview' car. In Australia there 3 euro 6e's being tested & evaluated to see if they can be further tweaked to improve the ride & handling for our local roads (i.e., poor road surfaces & potholes) & driving preferences. They're also looking to make the ADAS system less intrusive. Your UK Mazda6e may surprise you when you get to drive it, so I look forward to that report.

  2. How quickly things move on! UK spec us confirmed with a 78KWh battery that can charge at over 190kwh.

£38995 with a black pleather interior or ££39995 for ran suede and nappa leather. WLTP is 348.

    Looks more tempting now

  3. UK pricing and spec released:

£38,995 for base Takumi Trim, +£1k for Takumi Plus (tan nappa leather and all that)

But the big thing is it's only releasing with a 78kWh / 348mi / 195kWch LFP battery – they've done away with the weird NMC battery and bumped the spec of the faster charging LFP one.

Given that you expected high £40's for the larger but worse NMC battery, how do you now feel this fits value-wise being £39,995 for the top-spec?

  4. It’s a car from a manufacturer not committed to EV. Even if there’s good Mazda dealership network, how can you trust they can manage EV specific repairs?

  5. I don't get the Mazda vibe with this one. When it comes to long-term reliability as a Mazda 3 owner I trust the japanese brands most and I'm really waiting for a japanese compact EV like a "Mazda 3e". But I'm starting to loose hope.

  6. I looked for it, but inthe end. I went for ID7. Why? In my country they had a nice deal for ID7 Tourer, which made the overall cost cheaper. And the garage in town, not 10 to 12 miles further in another town. And I like Tourer like cars more, what Mazda does not offer. Further I do not really have a Mazda experience, so I think for me there is no comparison with other Mazda's.

  7. The EV paradigm entirely is DOWNGRADE, categorically, not better cars, not proper cars, not the latest best thing, DOWNGRADE, an entirely lesser inferior category of vehicle for commuting in major Chinese metropolises that don't have trains, or, I'm not sure that it even makes sense there. The Chinese people themselves, which don't get mentioned enough, aren't unsensible fools, they'd rather drive proper cars instead of EV too, but they've been duressed into them via the CCP's license plate authority via threat of forcefully-imposed immobility. Europeans don't need to win a lottery in order to drive a proper petrol car (as it is in China).. thank goodness, so they should do that.

Really the framing of the EV paradigm has been dishonestly awry. EV is really actually a voluntary self-downgrade to express unity with the oppressors of Chinese people. EV ownership is really saying "If I were a Chinaman instead of a European I'd be first in line to either comply with automotive self-downgrade of be one of the one ones to duress others into automotive downgrade in allegiance to The Party (CCP).

Dishonest way some have presented EV, innit? EV have been dishonestly and misleadingly presented as comparable proper cars. They're not. Obviously. Where there should be insultedness and horrifiedness and stark rejection and rebellion has been a bizarre acceptance of the base principle of obeyance and false presumption.

EV has been an enormous waste of unrecycleable rare virgin minerals plundered from Africa made in coal-powered factories, not something ecologically virtuous.

This car handles like a damned boat, not like a Mazda.

I like the 'fastback' style of boot very much, but that's superficial. The powertrain upon which it all sits is a miserable and damnation-worthy EV.

Hear Mazda's cry for help clearly as I have. Seems like you might've.

  8. Beats the ID7 and the Kia EV6, Ioniq, and more, in handling tests, and in braking tests.
Might not feel more sporty, but it corners better and brakes MUCH better in ADAC's tests.
And 20% cheaper than a comparable spec ID7 aswell, epic win for Mazda.
No idea what car you guys think is the alternative, other than the Tesla model 3, which has the exterior design appeal of an Iphone (bland but effective)
and the interior appeal of a prision transport.

  9. Having an Ioniq 5 with a movable central console and open floor between the front seats is great. If awkward parking means you need to slide over and use the passenger side door, it’s easy for anyone. Try doing that with any car with a massive central console without being a gymnast 🤸

  10. Good grief. Wipers and headlights in menus unless you assign them to buttons on the wheel. WHY MAZDA?! What is wrong with having them on the stalks where most cars have them?!! This obsession with changing the way things are configured for the sake of change is infuriating.

    In this article:

Investor anxiety around China's electric-vehicle sector is intensifying as weakness in demand and rising costs converge, with BYD Co (BYDDF) emerging as a focal point for the market's reset. After disappointing sales data, BYD's Hong Konglisted shares declined again this week, extending a selloff that has erased more than $60 billion in market value since May. The pressure has spilled over to other EV names, reinforcing broader equity market concerns already shaped by uncertainty around taxes and potential disruption from artificial intelligence. While investors had been positioned for slower growth this year following reduced government subsidies, the speed of the demand slowdown appears to have been sharper than many anticipated.

  12. Another great video, Andy. Is there any reason why you haven't reviewed the Renault 5 & 4 yet? It'd been 3 years since the Mégane review and it just seems weird Renault haven't loaned you the 4 & 5.

  13. You can bet your life the Deepal it’s based on will be thousands cheaper . Legacy Auto just haven’t got a clue right now have they and the Chinese are laughing at them .
No wonder the UKs second best selling car last month was Jaecoo . Quite frightening really that within a year Jaecoo ( Chery) have become that popular !

  14. Deepal L07, which this is based on, is also available as Range Extender EV (EREV). It has four cylinder petrol engine for generator, the wheels are still powered by electric motor on the rear axle. Hence the long bonnet.

  15. I'm really hoping this will be out by August when my company car getss renewed and this is in the cheaper side as I'd love this as one of mine.

It isn't exciting but it really does come across as a motorway muncher.

  16. As a Mazda driver for 20 years, I recently bought my first EV and bought a Skoda.
I'll wait until Mazda produces an EV that has more Mazda input. I do realise they're not going to have their own battery technology and are reliant on Chinese batteries which is fine but they should have more Mazda than this. Especially at the price point.
    Perhaps the next generation…
BTW, Mazda are one of the smallest "mass" manufacturers and will not be able to develop their own technology regarding this (other than perhaps small tweaks). They simply don't have the financial resources as they only sell 1.3 million cars a year.

  17. I wonder why you are surprised when it was obvious from last Year when the first info become official that it will be even bigger FLOP than MX-30. azda needs to STOP everything for a moment, take a deep breath and re-evaluate their priorities. Surely by thos time they had realised that ONE SIZE does NOT fit all markets. For UK / UK market we need NEW Mazda 3 and 6. New crossover CX-30. ONLY ONE SUV – MX-5 or MX-50 will do. MX60,70, 80, 90, 100, 110 – NO THANKS. MX-5 if they want. And bring on ASAP 4 cilinder active -x or -z ready for euro 7 emissions. Bring on asap a NEW GENUINE MAZDA BEV platform with desent batteries, 100% FLP and 100% 250kWh charging MIN. This could be EU / UK success if deliver a genuine Mazda experience, qality and hand craft / design experience. WHY on Earth I will pay Mazda premuim for EZ-6 when I can get same half price as Changan branded car. Common Mazda. DO NOT make us, your client look stupid as you tried with the CX-30 battery choice and justification.
