This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Toyota C-HR subcompact electric crossover.
The Toyota C-HR has a 77-kWh battery. AWD models produce a combined 338 horsepower and up to 452 km/281 miles of range. In the US, standard AWD. In Canada, there is a FWD option with 221 horsepower and 496 km of range.
This Toyota C-HR crossover has an athletic design, wide stance and a coupe-like profile. It has 8” of ground clearance and comes standard with LED headlamps, LED taillamps, low profile black roof rails, blackout badging, 18” wheels available 20” wheels and a tire repair kit. A two-tone paint option is available on select trims as well as power folding reverse tilt down mirrors and a headlamp cleaning system.
Considering it’s a small EV, the Toyota C-HR cabin actually feels open and has some good headroom. The focus for the interior was on a clean design with a matte brushed finish, a slim driver’s display and an easy to access centre console with dual wireless chargers, everything is at your fingertips. Cloth upholstery is standard, available SofTex as well as a faux suede and SofTex combo. There are four USB-C ports throughout the cabin.
The Toyota C-HR has an 11-kW on-board charger and is capable of speeds up to 150 kW. It is equipped with the North American charging system charge port. With a DC Fast charger it will go from 10-80% in 30 minutes. With a Level 2 charger, 7 hours.
Canadian MSRP SE FWD $44,900, XSE AWD $49,950, XSE Premium AWD $54,400.
In the US, SE AWD $37,000 USD and XSE AWD $39,000 USD.

Affordable? I don’t think it means what you think it means.
That seat fabric would be awful if you have a dog.
We need more affordable cars. 35k to 40k would be nice. I guess used cars are now the new affordable cars.
No difference in batterys ,one is quoted as Gross capacity, the other is the Net capacity
Options and packs are wierd, fwd doesn't have power seats ..a real deal breaker
I like it , but wish it was gas or hybrid at least .
Funny if this was a BYD or Geely car you would be going on about the threat to the ONLY pure EV made in Canada the 100 grand Dodge Charger.
But hey it’s made in Japan a Country Canada actually was at war with and no problem it’s a great car .
Tell me again why we are supposed to hate Chinese ?
It’s weird Toyota CEO says electric is bad for environment and not the future but says hybrid is. Yet they’re coming out with EV cars?!
Adding up dealer fee, PDI fee and hefty tax, this car goes over $60 000 for the AWD version still with the anxity of range. So crazy.
I do believe this is an excellent effort on EV skeptic Toyota. It would be great if it also included the following: glove box, digital rearview mirror, wiper, and 20-30 more miles of range.
If you like how they came up with C-HR, look up how Toyota came up with LEXUS.
Was looking forward to the re-release of the CHR but after viewing this: It’s a Pass… too small and too expensive. I love compact vehicles but you can get the new and remodeled Nissan Kicks for almost half the price with better features than this. I was done once they mentioned JBL speakers 😂😂😂😂
Is this really affordable 😢
Little high rider and big wheels, reminds me of what the original 4 door Rav4 was like. It's kind of a shame they didn't leave the rear boxy so you get the extra space though.
its ironic and dumb that both the C-HR and the uncharted only have a similar orange other than the monochromatic options.
Didn't have "Toyota has more models of EVs than Tesla" on my 2026 Bingo Card.
Junk interior is awful.
thanks
Materials look a little cheap. Recent Toyota models all seem to have a lot of cheap plastic that scratches easy and gives when you push on it. 🙁
Is the 360 camera view broken? Behind the car we just see the sky, which seems useless. As if the camera housing was mounted upside down. In another video where somebody looked at it in a car show, it was really distorted and cut off close to the car. So, several videos in about this car and I haven't seen one showing the 360 view working…
…………too small……………starts at $44,000………….what is even the point ?
EV's are dead, sales are tanking. You'll be stuck with a vehicle no one will take off your hands if you buy one now.
New and lower priced ICE gas-engine vehicles are coming out again in the next two years. Don't waste your money on EV's.
Rivian R2 is pretty much better in every way imaginable and starts at $45,000 US and if you want a CHR alternative the Nissan Leaf is $7,000 cheaper .
thanks for this here is FYI the oil co's are hiding this data
Engine exhaust contains numerous toxic, cancer-causing chemicals that deeply penetrate the lungs, leading to a high daily death toll from lung cancer, currently 360 Americans.
Mental Health: Chronic exposure is linked to increased susceptibility to anxiety, depression, and psychological stressDevelopmental Disorders: Prenatal and early childhood exposure is associated with a higher likelihood of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) dCognitive Impairment: Even short-term exposure, such as two hours in a traffic jam, can temporarily lower the brain's connectivity..
Neurodegenerative Diseases: Research from UCLA Health and Emory University has linked diesel exhaust to an increased risk of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
For those stuck with the old rotary phone ICE vehicle,
E-85 is much cleaner, mostly less expensive, and helps American farmers. It's now sold everywhere in the states Furthermore, the oil industry's efforts to spread misinformation and obstruct the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs),E.V’s are Zero emissions.
Pricing is definitely on the high side for the US and it has to come down quite a lot.
I know LOTS of people who don’t make $37k in a year.
All cars are luxury cars now.
Canada just got back EV incentives 😊 $5k😊. You should add a disclaimer
Duck into Canada when the BYD cars get there and you will see so much better vehicles , we have them here in Australia but they’re not the only ones . 😊
I’m sold! Tell Mr. Toyota to expect my cheque. Oh wait… Toyota only has vinyl seats. Subaru it is!
First, if I heard correctly, the bZ FWD gets a 57.7kWh battery with no upgrade option in Canada, but the C-HR FWD gets a 77kWh battery. Is that why the bZ FWD is only a $1090 more than the C-HR?
Second, I was NOT pleasantly surprised that pricing starts well under the threshold for the rebate. Why is it only the wealth get a tax rebate?
Third, was the NVH of the C-HR similar to the bZ?
BYD is going to have a field day when they arrive here, if $45K is "affordable"
