Finally usa can enjoy this masterpiece of a diesel…
Sounds like Mazda should go after the lucrative commercial service van/pick up buisness.
I've always said wy not have a van/pickup platform, using same chassis on both.
There's zero chance this will make it into the US market.
it's a hybrid. No big deal
I'll take my Ford 300 cubic inch inline 6 any day.💪
Diesels require more maintenance than gas. I have owned all three makes of large trucks and have spent thousands. I hope Mazda can move past the maintenance problems,
GM could have brought in the legendary Isuzu 4JJ1, a 3 liter 4 pot engine, yes 3 liter for 4 cylinders. This engine is even known to be tunable. GM has a forever partnership with Isuzu. There's also a 3.2 liter 4 cylinder turbo diesel 4B41 that Mitsubishi used on the Pajero.
what Mazda does this come in in America?
I'm sure many will be amazed at the power & efficiency associated witha 3+ liter modern diesel engine, until one learns and understands that Mercedes brought to the US in 1998 & 1999 a 3-literdiesel L-6 engine, the venerable OM606 that was and is still highly prized and hard to lay hands on. able to run totally mechanically when mated to the OM-603 injector pump, requiring NO computer support. Followed in 2005 + 06 with the OM628 3.2 common rail variable vane geometry turbo that I personally know would return 40 Miles per gallon on flat interstate runs. I live in Jacksonville and have traveled 800 miles to Miami and back on a 21-gallon tank of fuel. Sadly, no one builds a Good Old Basic diesel engine any longer; the last I'm aware of was the VW ALH 1.9 TDI 1997- 2010.
I would like a Mazda 6 big sedan making 40 MPG with a hatchback and near luxury interior. Tall gearing to use all that torque to run a slow reving engine quiet efficient engine
