Ford Mach-E GT is the Fastest Mustang Mortals Can Buy. No V8. No Apologies. #electricvehicles

Automobiles

The Mustang Mach-E is the quickest Mustang money can buy (unless you have the funds for a GTD). Unleashing 480 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque (or 700 lb-ft with the $995 Performance Upgrade), GT’s standard dual-motor AWD snaps off 0-60 runs in 3.3 seconds. This electric SUV/hatchback/Mustang adjacent machine launches with the best. It goes around a corner impressively too.

In this full review, I check out the 2025 Mach-E GT (2026’s are pretty much the same) in classic Pacific Northwest rain and dig into-
• Real-world range vs EPA estimate (280 miles claimed)
• MagnaRide suspension and handling feel
• BlueCruise hands-free driving
• DC fast charging (150 kW max) and home charging realities
• Interior updates for 2025
• Back seat and cargo practicality
• Ownership costs and incentives
• How it compares to Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, Tesla Model Y, Chevy Equinox EV, Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.4

Ford recently updated the Mach-E with a new rear motor, heat pump HVAC system, revised interior layout and improved performance consistency. But competitors like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N are strong — and used options like the Porsche Taycan are entering this price range.

Is the Mach-E GT still the sweet spot? Is 150 kW fast charging enough in 2025? Does Mach-E deserve the Mustang badge?

As always — I offer the pros and cons in a no fluff zone.

  1. As soon as I heard about paying to use a piece of something you own I vowed to not buy a Mach E, and I was considering it. I’ll stay with my Blazer EV, Lyric and Sierra EV.

  2. 3 mos into owning my ‘25 Mach-E GT+ and it has exceeded my expectations as a daily driver. I used to own a F355 F1 Spider and 360 Modena and my Mach-E is a vastly superior car in every aspect… and at a fraction of the cost!
Unbridled Extended is 🔥, yet I typically drive in the Engage mode (and Whisper mode during inclement weather).
Took me a good month to comfortably navigate through its GUI but now it’s become second nature. While it came with Blue Cruise, I much prefer using the Adaptive Cruise.
A week into it, a screw took out the rear tire; Ford towed it to my dealer and had it back to me in about 2 hours. Have had two factory recalls, but Ford’s mobile service came out and took care of it.
The Ford L2 (complimentary gratis Ford) charger allows me to charge (averaging about 8 kW/day at $0.845/kWh) during off peak hours. I do have the Ford/Tesla adapter for road trips, but haven’t used it. There’s ample space in the back seats and in the trunk space for our weekend Costco runs; the frunk allows me to secure my briefcase and notebook from prying eyes.
Sure, Tesla makes a wonderful EV, too, but I much prefer the Mach-E GT’s interior appointments and design of the MY Performance. I have absolutely no regrets buying (and at 0%) this wonderful car.

  3. Let's put a "Mustang" Mach E up against the Mustang GTD or even the Mustang Dark Horse on the Nürburgring. I have no doubt which will be the fastest.

  4. The Mach e is not just a great EV it's actually a super dependable car. Damn near on par with anything Toyota has brought out. When I'm done with my focus electric. I'm either going Mach e or if Chevy ever decides to bring it back again a bolt

  5. garbage car… ford wants to charge people 500 bucks to use the frunk? that's like buying a gas car with no trunk to use! think if i had a ford truck and i couldn't use the bed of the truck because I didn't pay for the option! I didn't pay so they gave me a truck with a closed off metal box with ford's logo!

  6. No car is worth $50,000 and up. None. I don't care if it costs them 2 million dollars to develop it. The biggest scam Legacy motors sold to everyone was debt. Fuck'em.
Eat the rich, there is no cake. They ate it all and now they want the crumbs.

  7. Looking at getting a used Mach E the 2025 model want the heat pump system. I do a lot of skiing just worried about charging on those trips. Some resorts are remote and not sure of winter range. May opt for a Mazda Cx-90 Phev.

  8. Re frunk
Customer data showed very low use of the MachE frunk, so most MachE owners don't care, so remove it for the cost save.
Plus, I'm sure the Weathertechs of the aftermarket world will have snap in frunks for the MachE, with generic knockoffs for cheap
The frunk size was reduced to accommodate the now standard heat pump, making it even less desirable

  9. So what electric cars are fast. Thats the only good thing about them and even that has problems making them far more dangerous for the young and old. Still it saves on cremation, that's free when you buy one with the added advantage that you may get it free for your family too.

  10. I am 69 years old and bought my 69th car being a new 2024 Mach e Premium in Star White. It is by far the best car I have ever owned and the most exhilarating driving experience of my life ! I cant wait to drive it everyday ! WARNING: TEST DRIVING A MACH E WILL LEAD TO BUYING ONE. THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME THE SECOND I FLOORED IT ! SOLD !

  11. Why dont they make a Lincoln version? I would consider a version geared more toward a luxury trim, more comfortable seating, and adjustable suspension and wheel/tire selection for comfort.

  12. Great review Tom!

It’d be sweet if they took that platform and did a modernized Honda Element-type thing—large, practical box with durable, less premium, interior. The taller boxy shape would lose some range, but they could just add more battery.

Ford reports $4.8 billion loss for its EV business in 2025
US automaker Ford recorded significant losses in its electric vehicle division, Model e, in 2025, as in previous years. While the loss decreased from $5.1 billion to $4.8 billion in 2025, Ford has already decided to give less priority to electric mobility in the future….

  15. Most of the time when charging from home you are not charging from 10% to full. So it can take far less time, may go a few days before even needing to plug in.

  16. Glad Ford has kept this model rolling out. Good cars. Worth watching the Smoking Tire review of their Mach E camera car as they reached the end of their lease preparing to turn it in. They loved it.
If you are looking in the used market but Taycan is too small (or too short range, or too slow) there are starting to be some very affordable used Lucids coming on the market. Not mine though, keeping it.

  17. Quick reminder-the 'stang never had a dedicated platform until the 21st Century. So the idea of a "pure-blood" Mustang is a myth.
